Mission View Funeral Chapel Ltd. was founded by current owner Derrick M. Kruk in 1992 with the creation of a new 4000sq foot building. Derrick, a licensed Funeral Director since 1986 along with his wife Nola
Derrick was in grade 3 when he realized that being a Funeral Director was what he wanted to do. He started at the age of 16 with Jack Sturges who owned the Funeral home in Lac La Biche and then continued his work in Taber, Bonnyville and then opened up Mission View in 1992. In June of 1996 Derrick married Nola Giesbrecht, who started working at Mission View in 2000. In the fall of 2005 Nola started her apprentiship with Western School of Funeral Service and successfully graduated from the program in April of 2007. In January 2001 our first son Bryson was born and Blake followed in the summer of 2002, they enjoy to assist us with the annual Candle Light Service that is hosted.
Heidi is the eldest child of Darrell and Leah Bouvier. She has spent the entirety of her life living and working in the Lac La Biche area. At the age of 13 Heidi was given the opportunity through the YAP program in school, to job shadow Derrick and Nola for a full two weeks. At the age of 17 she returned through the Work Experience Program ran by the high school, for a full semester of hands on experience. Immediately after graduating from J. A. Williams High School in 2010, Heidi began working full time at Mission View Funeral Chapel and began college courses for her chosen field the following September. On April 28, 2012 she received her diploma from the Canadian College of Funeral Service for her Funeral Director/Embalmers license. In the future Heidi hopes to be able to learn and grow not only as a director, but as a person as well in order to assist and serve her community to the best of her abilities.
