
Mission View Funeral Chapel Ltd. was founded by current owner Derrick M. Kruk in 1992 with the creation of a new 4000sq foot building. Derrick, a licensed Funeral Director since 1986 along with his wife Nola.
Derrick was in grade 3 when he realized that being a Funeral Director was what he wanted to do. He started at the age of 16 with Jack Sturges who owned the Funeral home in Lac La Biche and then continued his work in Taber, Bonnyville and then opened up Mission View in 1992. In June of 1996 Derrick married Nola Giesbrecht, who started working at Mission View in 2000. In the fall of 2005 Nola started her apprentiship with Western School of Funeral Service and successfully graduated from the program in April of 2007.
In January 2001 our first son Bryson was born and Blake followed in the summer of 2002, they enjoy to assist us with the annual Candle Light Service that is hosted.

Heidi Bouvier is currently enrolled in Canadian College of Funeral Service and has 5 months until her graduation, which she will graduate with a director and embalmers license. Heidi was born and raised in Lac La Biche and is the eldest child of Darryl and Leah Bouvier.

Debbie Smyth is the office administrator at Mission View Funeral Chapel. Debbie joined our team in December of 2006. Debbie was born and raised in Plamondon, AB and moved away for many years. She returned to Lac La Biche in 2006 and remains active in our community with her two children and spouses along with her five grandchildren.
