Welcome to the memorial page for

Bert Dyck

March 31, 2016

Allan Bert Dyck of Boyle passed away peacefully on March 31st surrounded by the love of his children, grandchildren and friends at the age of eighty years.

Bert was born in Gretna Manitoba where he married the love of his life, Lenora Toews.  In the late 1960's they moved to Fort McMurray with their sons Patrick and Jeffrey to pursue employment in the oil industry which he did for many years.  During this time, along with a close circle of friends, they purchased a lake lot at Golden Nodding Acres near Boyle and retired there.  The companionship of those friends has lasted to this day, each taking care of the other and the family remains grateful for this unique bond.
Bert had a voracious thirst for knowledge and received many certifications as a result.  He purchased, obtained and thoroughly read countless technical manuals ranging from electronics to human anatomy.  Bert's son Jeffrey has often said if you were to download even half of the knowledge and understanding Bert had accumulated, it would fill countless volumes and diagrams.
His many interests including the operating of his ham radios, golfing, volunteering at the Skelton Lake Golf course and Boyle Legion.  In his younger years Bert played on the Fort McMurray hockey team and proudly played against a Russian team overseas in the 1970's.  He enjoyed target and skeet shooting, earning many a free turkey and trophies.  In his youth he played bat catcher on the Gretna Baseball Teams and was an avid curler.
Bert will be remembered by his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Kathy of Gretna, his granddaughter Adrienne (Dyck) Copeland, her husband Shaune, her sons Patrick, Garrett and Daniel of Stettler and his grandson Jordan Dyck of Stettler.   He is also survived by his sister Lillian Hruda of Gretna.  Bert was predeceased by his wife Lenora, his son Patrick and daughter-in-law Katie.  Also predeceased are Bert's siblings John, Ann, Bill, Edward and Tina.

A memorial was held at the Boyle Legion on Sunday, April 3rd at  2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bert's name to Boyle Hospital Auxiliary and the Boyle Legion.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Boyle hospital for the care they provided for Bert and comfort to the family.  Their kindness was exemplary and shall not be forgotten.
