George Wyss May 27, 1940 – May 25, 2016

On May 25, 2016, George Wyss of Lac La Biche, AB passed away surrounded by his loving family.  George was born in Pierceland, SK and grew up on a farm with his seven brothers and sisters in Beacon Hill, SK. George served in the Canadian Armed Forces (Royal Canadian Air Force) for 32 years as an airframe mechanic and was stationed in CFB Borden, CFB Gimli, CFB Cold Lake, CFB Baden Germany, CFB Trenton and CFB Namao. He retired in Leduc, AB and spent his last years with his daughter and her family in Lac La Biche, AB.

George was predeceased by his loving wife Geraldine, parents Gottfried and Margaretha, brothers Rudy and Adolph and sisters Dora and Margaret. He is survived by his children Derrick (Chris) of Hamilton, ON and Donna (Barry Feledichuk) of Lac La Biche, AB; grandchildren Emily (Leigh Steele), Brin and Garrett; sisters Hanna, Hilda and Clara and his sister-in-law Connie and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of George’s life was held on Tuesday May 31, 2016 at 1:00pm at the United Church in Pierceland, SK. with Debbie Johnson officiating. George was laid to rest next to his wife at Pine Valley Cemetery in Beaconhill, SK.

Honourary Pallbearers were Brin Feledichuk, Garrett Feledichuk, Jeff Ouellette, Leigh Steele, Albert Story, Lorne Wyss.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
