                Todd Donald Coli

August 28, 1973 – February 14, 2015

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Todd Coli at the age of 41 in Calgary, of cancer.  Todd is survived by his son Jordan (Tamara), mother Marilynn, sister Andrea (Curtis, Julia & Adam Stang), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a few dear friends.  He was pre-deceased by his father Don and his grandparents, John and Mary Coli.

Todd was born on August 28, 1973 in Edmonton, Alberta and was raised in Lac la Biche. After graduating from J.A. Williams High School, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for a few years.  This work introduced him to Tamara and the 24 hr on-call lifestyle, which was excellent training for his later career in oilfield services (cementing and fracturing).  As many Albertans know, this can be a difficult lifestyle in which to raise a family, but Tamara and Jordan managed it quite well.

Todd was a hard worker, known for challenging others when he thought something could be done better.  He worked overseas in many places, including Australia, Qatar, and Yemen, amassing enough knowledge to realize his dream of starting his own company.  Together with his partner Eldon, they developed and patented a new fracturing pumping system, driven by electricity generated by a natural gas-fired turbine. Todd was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in June 2011, but continued to work around his treatments to bring his dream to life.

In his leisure time, Todd enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and backcountry camping with Jordan. He rode his yellow Felt road bike in a number of organized long rides, and over the years hiked many trails around the world, including the West Coast and Chilkoot Trails closer to home.

The family would like to thank Sharon FitzGerald, the AHS Palliative Home Care team (especially Andrea O’Brien & Dr. David Falk), Dr. Cam Herman and all of Todd’s other healthcare providers for their care.  Most of all, we are forever indebted to our wonderful cousin Adele for her devoted nursing care in Todd’s final weeks of life, allowing his final journey to end peacefully.  He was loved and will be missed.

An informal celebration of Todd’s life will be held on Thursday February 26th at the Banff Trail Community Centre, 2115 – 20th Avenue NW, Calgary Alberta from 2:30 – 4:30 pm.  A light lunch will be served.  Please wear your flip-flops!!

A small group of family and friends are planning to participate in the Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer, August 8-9, 2015.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate participation and / or support for Todd’s Team http://conquercancer.ca/goto/team-todd or a donation to Little Warriors, a charity dedicated to preventing and healing child sexual abuse.  http://littlewarriors.ca/you-can-help/donate/
