August 19, 1949 - September 27, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Staples (Giroux) announces her passing on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Joan was born and raised in Grouard, Alberta. She made her home in Lac La Biche, Alberta, where she lived for more than 35 years. Joan worked for many years at YAC (Youth Assessment Centre) and was a favourite of the youth who she worked with. After her retirement, Joan enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Valerie (Kent) Strudwick, Donna (Blaine) Alexander, Rosemarie (Cecil) Bellrose, and brother Guy (Vonda) Giroux, her children Chris and Michael, her grandchildren Sean, Lyra and Olive and her many nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by her parents Jean and Marguerite and brothers Sonny and Brian.

A public Celebration of Life will be held in Joan’s honour at the Lac La Biche Royal Canadian Legion McGrane Branch #28 (10101 Churchill Drive) on Saturday, October 13, starting at 2:30 pm In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s honour to the Lac La Biche Canadian Native Friendship Centre.
