Bernard "Bernie" Romaniuk Obituary

On Thursday, March 5, 2026 Bernie Romaniuk of Lac La Biche, Alberta passed away at the incredible age of 99 and a half years old.

Bernie was truly one of the kindest, most generous and happiest men you could ever meet. His life was full of hard work, service and love for his family, friends and community. Over the years, he owned and managed a radio company, worked in plumbing and gas fitting, built houses, repaired TV’s and appliances; he even ran the projectors at the local theatre, Aurora!

He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything. He worked on the heating system at the Provincial Building, as a consultant, until he was 80 years old.

Bernie was also deeply involved in the community that he loved, a proud member of the Lac La Biche Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus (he was a fourth degree knight!) and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28, McGrane. He was citizen of the year for the Lac La Biche Pow Wow and a dedicated volunteer with many local and community activities.

More than anything, Bernie will be remembered for the warmth he carried for his family and friends, and the way he treated everyone that he met; he touched so many lives and was greatly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We are grateful for the incredible 99 and a half years he shared with this world and with our family. His life leaves us with countless cherished memories that we will carry forward always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
