Debra Patenaude Obituary

It is with deep love and profound sadness that the family of Debra Patenaude announce the passing of the matriarch of their family. Debra faced cancer with incredible strength and courage, fighting bravely through each battle until she could rest peacefully.

Born to Percy Rowley and Doreen Grenier, Debra was the beloved wife of Joseph Patenaude, with whom she shared 44 beautiful years of love, adventure, belly laughs, and partnership. She was a devoted mother to Mathew (Danelle) Patenaude, Brandylynn (Evan) Patenaude, and Lacey Scanie, and a cherished Aunty to Jesse Adams. She was also a proud and loving Kokum (grandmother) to her grandchildren Ryker, Ciarra, Metayo, Arrow, Nevaeh, Sakura, and Arya.

Debra was predeceased by her son Chris Dupasquier, daughter Lareena Scanie, her great grandmother Anne Bailey, her parents Doreen Grenier and Percy Rowley, her sister Linda Adams, and her brother Reg Scoble.

Predeceased on Joseph’s side by brothers-in-law Lloyd, Eddie, Dennis, Roger, and Lawrence; and sisters-in-law Betty, Dorothy, and Amelia Rose.

Survived by brothers-in-law Horace, Laurie, and Morris; and sisters-in-law Rita and Mona.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Her heart was the happiest when she was performing for others, spending time with her family, tending to her flowers, and relaxing in peaceful places where she could be with her thoughts. She loved steak and lobster with a side of escargot, the color purple, jazz and blues music, and most of all, seeing people happy. If you spent a day with her, you would be leaving calling her “Mom.”

A wake will be held on Wednesday, October 22, at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service on Thursday, October 23, at 1:00 p.m. in Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement. Services will be officiated by Joe Kuraitis.

Her strength, laughter, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
