Obituary

Delphine Lett (nee Rizzoli)

It is with great sadness and much love that the family announces the passing of Delphine Lett on June 26, 2023 at the age of 93 years surrounded by those she loved.

Delphine was one of 7 children born to Luigi and Francesca Rizzoli on February 24, 1930. She married Don Lett on July 26, 1950, and together raised 4 children. They spent many winters in Arizona until Don’s illness.

She always made sure there was fresh baking in the house for the grandkids, and could somehow cook a meal for an army with one can of tuna. She was a strong lady who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and saw no issues with sharing her extensive vocabulary of curse words with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her mind was as dirty as her mouth and we loved her for that. You didn’t dare beat her in a card game or call her out for cheating because something would have been thrown at you. She was the highlight at every family gathering and we will miss her famous ravioli and gnocchi dishes. She was well known for her saying “if you don’t have Italian hands, you shouldn’t be making Italian food”. She wasn’t afraid to tell you if your baby was ugly and had wished for grandsons over granddaughters because in her words “girls are too whiny”, but she loved us all the same.

Delphine will be forever remembered by her children; Thomas Lett, Melvin (Raymonde) Lett and Susan (John) Putters; 6 grandchildren; Heather (Larry) Henderson, Lindsay (Kevin) Kuraitis, Eric (Becky) Lett, Andrea (Quinn) Johnson, Alex (Heather) Lett and Elliott (Robyn) Putters; 14 great grandchildren: Matthew Lett, Hillary (Alex) Gagnon, Kolton (Emily) Macor, Jordana (Nathan) Thomas, Cale (Brooklyn) Henderson, Avery Kuraitis, Brady Henderson, Taryn Kuraitis, Zoe Lett, Aleigh Lett, Hudson Henderson, Sidney Johnson, Henry Johnson and Olivia Johnson; 5 great great grandchildren: Jaxon, Kolbey and Lainey Gagnon, Kane Macor and Hayes Thomas; Daughter in law: Elle Lett; sister: Angelina Bassette, and many nieces and nephews.

Delphine was pre-deceased by her loving husband: Donald Lett; son: Douglas Lett; parents: Luigi and Francesca Rizzoli; brothers: Ben, Felix and Rene Rizzoli; sisters: Eleanora Rizzoli, Marie Shehinski and Louise Wahlberg.

As per Delphine’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place.

Grandma, we were so lucky you were ours, your presence will be missed immensely. You are finally free.
