Edward Nowicki Obituary

On December 7, 2020 Edward John Nowicki passed away at the age 85 years. He will be forever in the hearts of his wife Georgette, and his children: Colin (Denise) Nowicki, Luc (Kim) Nowicki, Anthony (Kelly Powis) Nowicki, and Lyle (Stacey) Nowicki; his nine grandchildren: James, Cole, Alessandra, Nikolas, Jake, Kayla, Darah, Alaina and Kacen. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Josephine VanderPyl and his brother Mike (Anne) Nowicki as well as his brothers-in-law, George Suhan, Roger Durocher, Claude Durocher, Gabe (Sharon) Durocher, sisters-in-law Rachel Hill, Celine (Alex) Berlinguette, and Violet Albas (Norm Deutsch). He will also be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Peter and Anna Nowicki, brother Zigmund, brother-in-law John Lachowich, sister Jean Lachowich, and brother-in-law Peter VanderPyl. He is also predeceased by in-laws Adelard and Madeleine Durocher, sisters-in law Helen Suhan, Marie Durocher, Eva Durocher, brother-in-law Michael Hill, nephews Richard Nowicki, Ken O’Hara, Eric Tegg  and niece Angela Suhan.

Ed was born on June 15, 1935 in Craigend, Alberta to Peter and Anna Nowicki. He was the third eldest in a family of five with 2 sisters, Jean and Josephine, and 2 brothers, Zigmund and Mike. He attended school until the age of 15, as he was needed to help run the family farm. However, he was a lifelong learner as he resumed his studies at the age of 38 to complete his high school diploma and obtain his heavy-duty mechanic ticket. He was hard-working, and his favorite vocation was farming.
He married Georgette Durocher on July 13, 1963 and they were happily married for 57 years. Living on the Nowicki family farm they were blessed with four sons. In the 90’s, they were blessed with daughters-in-law, and later grandchildren. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Ed was the king of one-liners with his quick wit, sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. He was proud to be a part of the communities of Craigend and Lac La Biche and volunteered his time to many organizations over the years. He will be greatly missed.
