It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eric Otto Merkle of Lac La Biche, Alberta announce his passing on September 26, 2024, at the age of 69 years, with his loving family by his side.

Eric is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: Carolyn Merkle; children: Erica Merkle (Todd Sr.), Danny Merkle, Katie Blair (Delaney), Leanne Johnson (Kelly), Loranda “Shorty” Ahnassay (Josh), Lisa Ahnassay; grandchildren: Baby Todd, Justice, Caprice, Alana, Phoenix, Tiffany, Annabelle, Leon, Joe, Sophia, Beyonta, Treyton, Rylee, Elisa, Mikalah, Kayleb; sisters: Kathleen & Lisa; brothers: Johnny, Gary, Alan & Andy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Eric is predeceased by his grandson: Christian; parents: Kurt & Lena; brother: Randy; sisters: Judy & Crissy; grandparents: Ariel & Elisa Quintal.

Wake: Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Merkle Residence, 13031 Twp Rd 683 (Square Lake Area), Lac la biche.

Funeral Service: Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Lac La Biche with Father Aneslmo Landoy officiating.
