Ethel Dawe Grier Obituary

Ethel Dawe Grier,

passed peacefully away in Lac La Biche, Alberta on November 15, 2025, following a
brief illness.

She is survived by her sons William Michael Grier and James Euan Grier (Kendra
McNutt) and her grandson Angus Euan.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and she will be missed by
her many friends and relatives from coast to coast.

A brilliant mind and a sense of humor that the years did not diminish, she enlivened
many gatherings with her experiences of her childhood and youth growing up in a
Newfoundland outport.

Her life will be defined by her infinite kindness and compassion to others, her incredible
courage in the face of adversity, the strength of her character and the beauty of her
spirit.

Ethel planned to donate her body to the University of Alberta Anatomical Gift Program,
however her final resting place will be in the Maritimes.

Heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Lacalta Lodge, William J. Cadzow Health Care Centre,
Cross Cancer Institute and Bonnyville Community Cancer Centre who provided care for
her.

Deepest gratitude also to her special friend Christine Guinand, who through her care
and kindness shared peace and joy with Ethel in her last years.

In lieu of flowers, Ethel would appreciate donations in her memory to be sent to the
Bonnyville Cancer Clinic through the Bonnyville Health Foundation or the Alberta Cancer
Foundation.
