Florence Alexandra Porter

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Florence Alexandra Porter, announces her passing on April 8, 2025, in Lac La Biche, Alberta, at the age of 82.

Florence leaves behind her beloved husband Kevin Porter; her children: Calvin Porter, Karen (Tony Dixon) Porter; sister: Nancy (Phil) Grouchy; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Henry Turnbull and Millie Turnbull (nee Curl), three sisters, two brothers, brother-in-law and her large extended family.

Florence was born and lived her early life on the coast of Labrador. She moved to St. John's, Newfoundland in her early teens. where she met and married her husband, Kevin of 61 years at the age of 20. Kevin moved her back to Churchill Falls Labrador, for almost a decade. Then their wandering spirits brought them to Western Canada in 1980 where they lived in Fraser Lake, British Columbia, Grande Cache, Alberta, Kemano, British Columbia and finally landing in Wandering River, Alberta, in 1993 where they remained.

She loved her life in Wandering River where she got involved in many community organizations and events. She loved celebrating holidays and Christmas was her favourite, as her house was always full with love faith and friendships. And her home had all the space she needed to do her beloved quilting, her favourite past time. But mostly Florence loved sharing time with family and friends.
