Georgette Nowicki

With heavy hearts, the family of Georgette Nowicki sadly announces her passing at the age of 88 years on June 9, 2025, at the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre, Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Georgette’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life and values, which guided her with grace, strength, and compassion. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished her family above all else and found great joy in every gathering. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support extended far beyond her home. She was a cherished presence in her community, always ready with an open heart, a helping hand, or a heartfelt prayer.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Colin (Denise) Nowicki, Luc (Kim) Nowicki, Anthony Nowicki, Lyle (Stacey) Nowicki; grandchildren: James, Cole (Sarah), Alessandra, Nikolas, Jake (Katarina), Kayla (Andrew), Darah (Matthew), Alaina, Kacen; great grandchild: Miles; brothers: Claude Durocher, Gabe (Sharon) Durocher; sisters: Rachel Hill, Celine (Alex) Berlinguette, Violet (Norm) Albas; sister-in-law: Anne Nowicki; she will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Georgette was predeceased by her husband: Edward John Nowicki; parents: Adelard and Madeleine Durocher; sister: Helen Suhan; brother: Roger Durocher; parents-in-law: Anna and Peter Nowicki; brothers-in-law: George Suhan, Micheal Hill, John Lachowich, Zigmund Nowicki, Peter VanderPyl, Michael Nowicki; sisters-in-law: Marie Durocher, Eva Durocher, Jean Lachowich, Josephine VanderPyl; niece: Angela Suhan; nephews: Richard Nowicki, Ken O’Hara, Eric Tegg.

The family would like to thank the staff at the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre, Lac La Biche, Alberta, and at the Golden Sands Senior Living Community, Lac La Biche, Alberta, for their care and compassion towards Georgette.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 10303 Churchill Drive, Lac La Biche, Alberta. A luncheon will be held immediately following the funeral service.

A private inurnment will be scheduled by the family at the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church & Cemetery, Craigend, Alberta.
