Glen Michael Langevin Obituary

On Tuesday, December 15, 2020 Glen Langevin of Lac La Biche, AB passed away at the age of 68 years.

Born on November 25, 1952 in Bonnyville, AB.  He attended Elementary School, where his father Roland was the principal, in Perryvale AB.

As a child Michael was adored by all his family. Having diabetes and polio at a young age, he spent a great deal of his younger years in leg braces, undergoing surgeries and living with leg casts.

This did not hold Michael back. He was expected to help out on the farm and that is where he spent much of his time growing up, along with his other siblings and dear childhood friends.

He continued to junior and senior high at Edwin Parr Composite High School in Athabasca, AB. His first career was as a Journeyman Mechanic.

He met his first wife, Judy, in high school. Together they had three children. His hobbies were riding (and fixing) Harley Davidson motorbikes, trail rides and camping.

With the ever changing needs of a family, Mike had to hang up his bike keys and go back to University at the University of Alberta, where he obtained a teaching degree.

The first few years as a teacher were made up of many diverse roles. With each new class, the family would be exposed to a new hobby such as raising animals and leatherworking.

Mike met and married his second wife, Betty, in Lac La Biche, AB where they raised two children.

He was a teacher at the junior high school for over 10 years before he was forced to retire at a young age due to a heart attack and other health complications.

Once retired, Mike spent a great deal of his time camping and quadding with friends and family. These memories will forever be treasured by his family as he cultivated their love of the outdoors. Second to his love of outdoors was his home, Mike and Betty were known to be the parents that were always warm and welcoming. His teasing sense of humor could set anybody at ease.  He was adored by so many. Mike truly shined as a father and as a papa to his grandchildren. He is forever in our hearts. May his tank always be full and the wind at his back.

Glen is survived by his children Travis Langevin, Rory (Kelly Makin) Langevin, Carmen (Patrick) Lyons, Joshua Langevin, Tatie (Darcy Bourassa) Langevin, grandchildren Todd, Elizabeth, Cole, Machayla, Kaleb, Kolby, Cordelia, Meghan, Mercedes, Abiageal, Kaiden, Kolten, great grandchildren  Jackson, Penelope, Lucien, brother Allan Langevin and sisters Janie (Dan) Valois, Linda (Jeff) Lundbech.

Glen was predeceased by his loving wife Betty Langevin, mother Elaine Guedo (Heatherington) and father Roland Guedo, as well as numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers: Darcy Bourassa, Allan  Langevin, Kaleb Langevin, Kolby Langevin, Rory Langevin, Travis Langevin, Patrick Lyons, Dan Valois.

A private family service will be held with Pastor Emmanuel Chiwele officiating.

Interment will follow in the Grassland Community Cemetery, Grassland, AB.
