Irene Bobocel

On Monday, September 13, 2021, Irene Elizabeth Bobocel passed away at the age of 86.

Irene was born on April 29, 1935 in Edmonton, Alberta to Elizabeth and Camille Therou. Irene married Mike (Marin) Bobocel in 1956 and they had three children, Melvin, Judy and Donny.

For many years, Mike and Irene lived on their farm just south of the town of Lac La Biche. Her gardens and greenhouse were something that she held very dear. The memories of the time with friends and family on that farm were always close to her heart.

Mike and Irene relocated to Calgary in 2016, to be close to family. and Irene spent time with her kids and grandchildren often, always contributing to the family meal with one of her “famous” dishes.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Mike in 2017, her parents Elizabeth and Camille Therou, and her brothers Roland and Denis Therou. She is survived by her children Melvin Bobocel, Judy LaFontaine and Donny Bobocel, her sister Eva Veillette, brothers Fred Therou and Ivan Therou and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Lac La Biche when we can all be together on Mike and Irene’s anniversary, June 29, 2022. The service will be followed by interment of Irene and Mike at the Evangelical Free Church Cemetery with a reception to follow.
