James Gordon “Jimmy” Hamar

Jimmy Hamar had that swing for 93 years, and passed away on November 24, 2022. He was predeceased by his brother Mickey in 2003, his father Michael in 1974 and his mother Irene in 1931. Although he lost his mother at the age of three, Jimmy’s life was filled with family, and he will be remembered by: his wife Sophie of 73 years; the Hamilton sisters, who became and remained like sisters to him to this day; his children (son Dale Hamar (Deborah Ladouceur) and daughters Debra Hamar (Steve Preboy), Dana (David) Robb, Shelly (Jim) Booth, Michelle (Kirk) Nyquist, Lori Hamar); his grandchildren (Kyla Robb, Sarah (Tom Skinner), Casey (Janelle) Robb, Daniel (Karlee) Booth, David (Azure) Booth, Coyne Nyquist (Charley Swan), Andrew Booth, Michael Nyquist, Sophie Shields), and great grandchildren (Asher, James, Penny, Greyson, Keira, Emerson, Cassandra, and Florence) who never failed to bring a sparkle to his eyes and a smile to his face; as well as by the extended family and great many friends that he and Sophie enjoyed hosting at their home in Lac La Biche, their cabin at the beach, and their winter retreat in Arizona.

Jimmy will be remembered by many, and for much, but most notably for his love of music and song; his almost irrepressible sense of humour; his enjoyment of all sports but especially of golfing, in particular with friends at the Lac La Biche Golf & Country Club which he helped to build and supported over the years; and his business entrepreneurship and belief in all that Lac La Biche could be.

At his request, a private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lac La Biche Regional Health Foundation or a charity of your choice in memory of Jimmy would be appreciated.
