With grateful hearts for a life well lived, the family of James McDonald of Hylo, Alberta sadly announces his passing on November 30, 2023 at the age of 86 years.

James will be remembered by his wife of 63 years Lillian; children: Patsy (Joe) Cardinal, Vern (Evelin) McDonald, Kenny (Tracy) McDonald, Marilyn McDonald, Joyce McDonald, William (Rebecca) McDonald, Ron (Mae) McDonald; grandchildren: Chantelle, Tyson, Eric, Caitlin (Trevor), Kent (Jessica), Kendal (Tristan), Kentra (Lee), Tray, Kayla (Ryan), Jamie, Colton (Courtney), Ashley (Alex), Tessa (Jesse), Curtis, Lindsey (Scott); great grandchildren: Kruze, Kailleena, Karson, Joseph, Kanin, Kaleb, Ariana, Liam, Sophia, Chloe, Tucker, Kessy, Tennlyn, Kayce, Lacey, Lainey, Ava, Everly, Sophie; brother in-law: Andy Guinand; sister in-law: Mary McDonald, Lorraine McDonald; special nephew: Craig McDonald; daughter in-law: Diane Roy; numerous nieces and nephews from McDonald’s, William’s, Guinand’s, Steinhauer and Whitford Families.

James was predeceased by his parents: James Sr. and Mary Macdonald; great granddaughter: Lillianna-Joy Cardinal; grandson: Spencer Belcourt; nephew: Willie Cryer; niece: Lynn McDonald; in-laws: Steve and Alice Whitford; sisters: Bella Williams, Mary Jane McDonald, Caroline Guinand, Pearl Cyer, Marie Anderson; brothers: Bernard McDonald, Alex McDonald, Robbie McDonald, Clarence McDonald; sister in-laws: Elsie McDonald, Nancy Steinhauer; brother in-laws: Gilbert Whitford, William Whitford, Bob Williams, Ben Whitford, Archie Steinhauer.

Public Viewing: 4:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, Kikino Community Centre (leaving Mission View Funeral Chapel, Lac La Biche, Alberta at 3:30pm.

Funeral Service: Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., Evangelical Free Church, Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Pallbearers: Tyson Cardinal, Kent McDonald, Kendal McDonald, Tray McDonald, Colton McDonald, Curtis McGillivray, Eric Cardinal, Craig McDonald.   

Honourary Pallbearers: Buffalo Lake Evangelical Fellowship, numerous nieces and nephews.
