Justin Cardinal

Justin Cardinal left this world far too soon on March 16, 2026, at the age of 41 years, leaving behind his family and friends to mourn the loss of a creative and musical man.

Justin was a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for the outdoors, often spending his time hunting and exploring the woods. A deeply spiritual young man, he cherished his time picking medicinal medicine with his Kokum Melanie, who taught him the old ways. He was an athletic and talented individual. Justin was known for his ability to do backflips, his love for playing hacky sack, and his joy in singing, dancing, and playing the harmonica. He was a creative force who loved drawing, writing his own lyrics, and listening to rap music and beatboxing. Above all, Justin loved animals and cherished time spent with family and friends.

He will be lovingly survived by his children: Kyle Cardinal, Mina Blackie, Justine Blackie, Serenity Blackie; brother: Jonathan Cardinal; sister: Jeanine (Ashley Lavallee) Cardinal; nephew: Noah J.C. Mayo; nieces: Janessa-Lee Cardinal, Alexandra Lavallee, Danielle Lavallee, Jacqueline Lavallee; great nephews: Malcolm, Zaythein, Thaydis, Elias, Akyler, Xzavyien; great nieces: Saphira, Settarra, Isabella, Alensiea; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, family & friends.

He will be going in to the arms of his great grandparents who raised him: George & Melanie Cardinal; grandfather: Alfred Cardinal; mother: Alvina Joan Cardinal; uncles: Melton Cardinal, Rodney Cardinal; step-father: Dennis Morrisette; girlfriend: Sarah Blackie; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins & family.

Justin will be going home to Owl River on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (leaving Mission View Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m.)

Funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Owl River Hall. Father Landoy will be officiating.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Owl River Hall. Pastor Stephen Chute will be officiating.

Final resting place will follow at the Our Lady of the Snow, in Owl River, Alberta.

Pallbearers: Jonathan Cardinal, Ashley Lavallee, Brad Thom, Kyle Cardinal, Earl Bacon, James Bacon.

Honorary pallbearers: Rodney Lavallee, Kelly Quintal.
