It is with deep sadness that the Family of Lilly Rowena Fleming announces her passing on October 13, 2023 in Lac La Biche at the age of 88 years.
Lilly is survived by her daughter Orvella (Tim) O'Bingley, 2 sons Jason (Yvette) Fleming and Jeffery (Jennifer) Fleming. 7 Grandchildren Sharleen (Terry), Colton, Brendon, Brant, Tatum, Baye-lee and Shay-lee. One Great Grandchild Sierra. 1 Brother George (Georgina) Erickson, 1 Sister Reta Karas as well as other extended Family and Friends. Lilly was pre-deceased by her Daughter Debra Vasseur, Parents Jess and Fay Erickson and Siblings Ole Erickson and Betty Fleming.
Lilly was born at Garth, AB and was the 2nd oldest in a Family of 5 children. When Lilly was of school age there were no country schools established at Garth. She had to attend school at the Duclos Residential School in Bonnyville, only going home on holidays where she obtained up to Grade 4. As Lilly grew up she was a "Lady who danced to the beat of her own drum". Lilly spent many years living in Mesa, Arizona and later in Vernon, BC. In her later years, she moved back to Lac La Biche.
She was an avid landscaper and her yard was always well groomed and filled with flowers. She loved Roses, Iris' and Red Geraniums. She also loved birds and fed them at ever home, even a sanctuary in Vernon. Lilly learned to knit from a young age and became an avid knitter. Many relatives and Friends enjoyed the warmth of wearing these special sweaters knit by Lilly.
May Lilly rest in peace and enjoy God's beautiful gardens and perhaps find a pair of knitting needles too.
