It is with heavy hearts and tears of sadness the family of Marcel Thomas Janvier announces his sun setting on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the age of 65 years in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Marcel was a man who found his greatest peace in the rhythms of the North. He was never more at home than when he was spending time at his trapline, embracing the quiet beauty of the wilderness and the challenges of the land he loved. When he wasn’t in the bush, he could often be found on the golf course, enjoying a round with friends and the simple pleasure of a day on the green.
Above all else, Marcel’s life was defined by his fierce devotion to his family and God. He had a very tough childhood and made the best of what life handed him. Sports was a special way he brought the community together and enjoying large family gatherings, especially Christmas, was time he relished. He was a pillar of strength who lived to protect and provide for his loved ones in every way he could. He gave everyone a chance, no matter the circumstance or where people came from; if they were happy, he was happy. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, being the first to arrive at family celebrations, or simply being present for the small moments, his support was unwavering. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every second spent in their company. Marcel’s love extended far and wide, encompassing his nieces, nephews, and his entire extended family. To Marcel, family wasn't just a word; it was his favorite place to be. He loved his family with everything he was and more, even when he didn’t have much, he would give you the world and make everyone feel special. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep protection, selflessness, honesty and an abundance of love that will be carried forward by all who knew him; most especially his children and grandchildren
