Surrounded by love and cherished memories, the family of Marcella Thompson share with heartfelt sorrow, her passing on July 7, 2025, at the age of 75 years, at her home on the Kikino Metis Settlement, Alberta.
Marcella made Kikino her home in 1966, arriving with her family. It was there she built her life—marrying her beloved husband, raising her siblings, children, and many foster children. Marcella was a strong and nurturing presence in the community. Her warm spirit and caring energy were shared through friendships made around hockey rinks, ball diamonds, summer evenings spent outside, country drives, and gatherings filled with music.
She especially loved singing alongside her husband Floyd and hearing the voices of family and friends come together in song. One of her favorite outings was heading to Edmonton to try her luck on the VLTs. An early riser, Marcella treasured her quiet morning coffee with Floyd, always ready to welcome whoever dropped in for family coffee time.
The greatest joy in Marcella’s life was her family. She beamed with pride during Christmas, lighting up the tree adorned with special ornaments bearing each family member’s name. Her happiest moments were spent gathered around a table—on holidays and ordinary days alike—listening to laughter, stories, and the sound of children playing nearby.
