On September 28th, 2022, Mary Karpetz of Lac La Biche passed away, surrounded by
family, at the age of 96.
We, her family, are saddened by her passing, but it's difficult to imagine a richer or fuller
life for her. She lived immersed in her family and surrounded by friends.
She leaves behind four generations of descendants and many, many friends, from her
time as head dietician at the William J Cadzow Hospital, and from Lacalta Lodge, where
she lived the last years of her life.
Mary remained mentally sharp and physically active to the end. She was an ace bowler,
and kept throwing strikes to the age of 92. She was a dedicated gardener, a compulsive
knitter and crocheter, and a crotchety card player right up to the end, playing her last
game of cribbage with her daughter two days before her passing.
Mary is lovingly survived by her children: Betty Switzer, Pat (Gordon) Coli, Conrad
(Ruby) Karpetz; grandchildren: Anita (Mike) Stark, Jodie (Jim) Martin, Tim Coli, Ben
(Erin) Coli, Nathan (Linda) Coli, Michele (Jason) Bobocel, Lee (Nicole) Karpetz; great
grandchildren: Haley Stark, Kiana (Kyle) Martin, Dylan Martin, Sam Coli, Sophia Coli,
Oscar Coli, Louise Coli, Kolton (Cynthia) Bobocel, Karter Bobocel, Maggie-Lee (Jihad)
Fayad, Jayden Bobocel, Adison Karpetz & her only great great grandchild: Zayn Fayad.
Mary is predeceased by her husband: Mike Karpetz in 2012;
parents: Mary & Fred Dwernychuk; numerous sisters and brothers.
A private celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date for her immediate family.
Respectfully submitted by Mary's family
