Mary Plamondon Obituary

Mary Ellen Plamondon - December 26, 1929 – February 22, 2021

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom/Grandma, Mary Plamondon on the early morning of February 22nd after battling COVID 19.

Mary Ellen Plamondon was born on December 26th, 1929 to Johann and William Mather in Swift Current, Sk.
Mary is survived by her five children; Donald (Anita) Reid, Kenny (Joan) Reid, Joanne (Nick) Phipps, Laura (Floyd) Barnes, Cathy (Dean) Klemmer; extended family on the Plamondon side and so, so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary was able to have a final phone call with all her family and the call was filled with much love. A few short days after this call Mary passed away peacefully and pain-free, holding the hand of a loving nurse. Our family will be forever grateful for the medical team that cared for our Mom/Grandma and stayed with her during her final moments.

We will remember our Mom/Grandma as a card shark who 'never' cheated, her love for reading, being a huge fan of the Calgary Flames, but most of all the love she shared for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mary had many accomplishments throughout her life, the ones she was most proud of were her family and friendships. She loved camping, travelling with friends in her younger days and she loved her life out at Square Lake with Grandpa Plamondon. Mom/Grandma loved a good burger, fish n' chips and a good feed of Chinese food, even in the hospital when her food was restricted, she was still lookin for her meals!

Our Mom/Grandma showed her love of family and friends through calls, visits, cards and by remembering all the special occasions. Her heart was the fullest when she was giving so it is safe to say she lived 91 years with a full heart.

There are many memories we all have of her and we will carry these today, tomorrow and all the days to come.

In lieu of flowers and keeping with the love Mom/Grandma had for her grandchildren, please consider a donation to the Stollery Children's Hospital Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic in honour of her Great Granddaughter, Sophia Ricci. xoxo

Her Journeys Just Begun
Don't think of her as gone away, her journeys just begun.

Life holds so many facets,

this Earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and no years.

Think how she must be wishing

that we could know today,

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of her as living

in the hearts of those she touched.

For nothing loved is ever lost,

and she was loved so much.
