Pierre Gelinas

With loving memories and deep sorrow, the family of Pierre Gelinas announces his sudden passing at the age of 77.

Pierre is survived by his loving partner of 31 years Fetinia Ganovicheff; his proud son Ben Gelinas (Madeline) and Ben's mother Evelyn; his sisters Anne-Marie (Marvin) and Lucie; his brothers Andre (Faye), John (Cheryl), and Michael; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pierre was predeceased by his parents Luce and Paul, nephew David, and cherished brother-in-law Marvin Melnyk.

Compassionate and clever, Pierre was one of the funniest people you knew. He found light in dark places, and when there was no light to be found, he became that light. As a psychologist, Pierre helped countless people through trials great and small. He made incredible sacrifices for his family and, to the very end, lived a life of curiosity, humility, and peace. 

Family would like to thank responding EMTs and RCMP, who went above and beyond to help him. At Pierre's request, a private family gathering will take place at a later date. Donations in his name may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
