Robert James Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 62.
Born on November 8, 1963, in Toronto, Ontario, Robert carried with him a strong work ethic and quiet determination that defined every part of his life. No matter where life took him, his roots, values, and sense of responsibility never wavered.
Robert was known for his unwavering belief that “we don’t have problems, only solutions.” He could fix anything, figure out everything, and never hesitated to lend a hand. A farmer by trade and by heart, he was also a boss who treated people with dignity, respect, and humanity. He believed in others, even when they struggled to believe in themselves. Above all else, Robert was devoted to his family. He was a proud father, a loving grandfather, a loyal brother, and a steady presence to everyone lucky enough to know him. His wisdom, humor, guidance, and strength will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife, Lisa Brown; his daughters, Kristin (Craig) and Shannon (Rob); and his cherished grandchildren, Kaylee, Serena, Shaelynn, Carter, and Addison, who were the absolute light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Vickie); his sisters, Cathy (Mark) and Carolyn; his mother-in-law, Diane Blair; his brother-in-law, Todd (Missy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends who became family.
Robert was predeceased by his father, Donald Brown; his mother, Margaret Brown; his brother-in-law, Matt Funkenhauser; his nephew, Sam Austin; and his father-in-law, Stewart Blair.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held Monday, January 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wandering River Agriplex (Wandering River Hall) 5012 53 Street, Wandering River, Alberta, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a life well lived. For any friends who knew Rob that are unable to attend there will be another gathering at a later date in Fort McMurray.
Robert’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
