It is with a sad heart that Phil Cohen has to announce the passing of Sandy, his wife of 52 years.
Sandy was born in Barrhead, Alberta, eldest child to Ross and Aggie Adams on March 20, 1951. She was raised on the family farm South of Barrhead and graduated from the local high school. From Barrhead she studied outdoor recreation and environmental education at Lethbridge Community College. After college she moved to Hinton, Alberta where she met her future husband. We were married in Hinton, Alberta, on June 30, 1973. In 1978 we moved to Lethbridge so Phil could attend Lethbridge Community College from Lethbridge, we moved to Long Lake Provincial Park after Phil became a park ranger. Sandy worked primarily in construction around Boyle, Alberta. In 1989, we moved to Lac La Biche where Sandy took a carpenter apprenticeship with Alberta Parks. Sandy then worked in Ft. McMurry for 10 years as a carpenter and a scaffolder at the oil sands plants. In 2005 we both retired and became snowbirds, spending the winters in Arizona. In 2020 Sandy developed COPD. Sandy passed away on August 9, 2025, in Lac La Biche from COPD complications. She was 74 years old. May she rest in peace.
