Sophie Chwedoruk

It is with great sadness the family of Sophie Chwedoruk of Lac La Biche, AB regretfully announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the age of 88 years.

Sophie is lovingly survived by her children: Sandra Chwedoruk of Edmonton, Cindy McCormick of Edmonton, Barry (Tracy) Chwedoruk of Lac La Biche, Shelly (Marc) Doucet of Lac La Biche; grandchildren: Brittany, Janessa (Mike), Blake (Becky), Brayden (Tyler), Regan (Max), Clay, Madison (Ethan), Wade; great grandchildren: Knoxly, Nate; sisters: Rose Wowk of Edmonton, Anne Nowicki of Lac La Biche; sister in-law: Olga Corse of Edmonton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sophie was predeceased by her beloved husband: Joseph Chwedoruk (May 1, 2017); parents: Stefan and Nastasia Paskar; son: Brian Chwedoruk; daughter-in-law: Linda Chwedoruk; son-in-law: David McCormick; sisters: Jennie (Walter) Korethoski, Mary (Peter) Shipka, Victoria (Henry) Pohranychny; brothers: William Paskar, John Paskar; brothers-in-law: John Wowk, Mike Nowicki, Walter (Nina) Chwedoruk; sisters-in-law: Annie (Nick) Wasylciw, Helen (Bill) Palamaruk, Mary (Paul) Wowk;       parents-in-law: Antoni and Michalina Chwedoruk.

Funeral Service, Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., Craigend Community Hall, Craigend, AB with Rev. Father Dr. Roman Shiyan officiating. Pallbearers: Brittany McCormick, Blake Chwedoruk, Regan Niles, Madison Chwedoruk, Janessa McCormick, Brayden Duchnych, Clay Doucet, Wade Doucet.

Final Resting Place, St. Demetrius Ukrainan Orthodox Church, Craigend, AB.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Golden Sands, Lac La Biche, and the Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre nursing staff for their kindness and compassionate care of Sophie. A special thank you to Dr. Nortje for your care and compassion throughout the years.
