Walter Garry Piche, of Heart Lake First Nation, a true free spirit who danced to the beat of his own drum, has set off on his final great adventure on March 23, 2026, at the age of 71 years in Edmonton, Alberta
An avid outdoorsman, Walter was happiest when he was immersed in nature, whether he was patiently waiting for a bite on his fishing line or tracking game through the woods. His love for life was as vast as the world he so passionately traveled.
To those who knew him, Walter was also unforgettable for his devotion to Elvis Presley. He didn't just love the King's music; he lived it, often sporting the iconic style with a charm and confidence that was uniquely his own.
He will be forever remembered by his sister Maria Piche; nieces & nephews: Lisa (Clayton Calliou) Piche, Myrin Monias, Michael Piche, Vanessa Piche, Marty Piche, Marton Piche; as well as many cousins, family & countless friends.
He will be going in to the arms of his parents: Michele (Michael) Piche, Mariah Piche; brothers: Joe Piche, Charlie Piche, Frank Piche, Joker (Adolph) Gregoire; sisters: Donna Piche, Margaret Piche; nieces: Vikki Piche, Nicole Piche.
He will be going home to Heart Lake First Nation on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 (leaving Mission View Funeral Chapel at 3:00 p.m.)
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Heart Lake Hall in Heart Lake, Alberta. Father Anselmo Landoy will be officiating.
Final resting place will be at the Heart Lake Cemetery.
