Message from Charlie Bonifacio
January 30, 2015 7:58 PM

To all of the Giacobbo family, from a long lost Bonifacio brother. I wish that I could be there to hug you all and share stories of the wonderful people your parents, Dorothy and Angelo were to me. My memories of them, your farm, all the brothers and sisters we played with there and the events of early childhood in Venice Alberta run deep and clear. Your Mother was like the sunshine and your father, like a crackling fire, their warmth and generosity always made me feel like I was at home, a city kid immersed in my parents' first community. I learned about life and death on your farm, about smoking straw and driving tractors. I learned about cow salt and how far you could travel in a rusted out car with no wheels. I learned the wisdom of a farmer's breakfast and the joyful feast of a farm dinner. Most of all your parents rounded out my understanding of family. They were family to my parents and I felt encompassed by that extension into your family. Like my Mom and Dad, your's too, seemed to need to be close, in this life and the next. I know that this time can be sorrowful, with the flood of memories but also joyful, for those same memories and the celebration of lives lived. I am grateful to have been part of the Giacobbo history and to have known Dorothy and Angelo for the brief moments of time I was able to share with them. My deep sympathies and condolences, may the memories of their lives live strong in your family and friends. Sincerely, Charlie Bonifacio

Hi Charlie.

I had to read your beautiful condolences about Dad and Mom. I have read it many times. It makes me feel good and just walking down memory lane with you. I will always have fond memories of Dad and Mom it is just tough at the moment. I don't know if you know the history of Dad and Mom in the last five and a half years. Dad and Mom sold the farm and moved into Lac La Biche in a four plex and not long after that maybe two months Dad ended up in continuing care he was diagnosed with dementia. Mom had heart problems but she dedicated herself to Dad made supper for him everyday and went and fed him I would do the lunch I would go and feed him to give Mom a break. Once Dad passed away we moved Mom to the lodge (I think it was a mistake that is the way I feel it took all of her independence away). From there Mom just went down hill she really missed Dad. Deep down I knew she wasn't going to be with us very long. When she was in the hospital she was blessed to have all children and grandchildren surrounding her. Mom had a lot fluid in her. Her kidneys and heart were failing. She passed away peacefully. Still leaves a hold in your heart but like Mom would say to me you have to move forward.

Ken and I are blessed with two beautiful sons and daughter-in-laws and of course our beautiful granddaughter.

Thank you again Charlie you take care!!!

So very, very sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing, Dorothy & Angelo have been a part of my life for 65 years and in that time I have never met a nicer, stronger, warmer person than your precious mother Dorothy, nothing ever prevented her from being the happy, positive, loving person that she was.
Your mother raised a truly wonderful family and left a legacy that she would be very proud of, she will be sorely missed but is in a better place with her beloved Angelo.
Our condolences go out the entire extended family and our thoughts are with you at this very sad time.

My Deepest Sympathy  Serena, Bernadette and the rest of the Giacobbo family.

Your mother was such a wonderful happy person. Always had a smile on her face and had time to stop and chat where ever I saw her. It didn't matter if she wasn't feeling well she just shrugged it off and kept on going. She was a very strong woman.
She will be missed. May she rest in peace.
